Some of our animals are breeds that originate
in far-off lands. We have two llamas, Llewelyn and Llinos, who come from
the Welsh-speaking colony in Patagonia, Argentina, South America. So they
tell me, anyway!! From the same area we have Rhys the rhea. He is a ratite,
or flightless bird. He can't fly but he can certainly run fast! He shares
a compound with his distant cousins from Australia, our Emus, Eddie (the
original 'Fast Eddie') and Emma. They are also flightless birds and bit
bigger than rheas.

The Emus are made to feel at home by
our family of Australian Wallabies, Bruce, Sheila and young Joey. They
are like small kangaroos. Just like Kangaroos, they carry their young
in the pouch or marsupium. Hence the species name - marsupials! Sheila
has a baby developing in the pouch, he or she will be making an appearance
any day now!!
Come and wish them g'day!
